EMMA'S JOURNEY....

Back in December I started working on a video to show at her birthday party that would chronicle Emma's story and the first six months with our family. Alot of thought and planning went into it and I am very happy to be able to share it with you! We hope you enjoy it! Thomas, Cathy, & Emma

Birthdays and Blue Hawaii....

What a wonderful week we spent on the garden island of Kauai! Candice flew over from Japan and we all got to be together for our vacation. We celebrated three birthdays there. Emma's was the 15th, Thomas' the 18th, and Cathy's the 19th. The older kids all went skydiving and took a boat tour of the Napali coast. Austin took surfing lessons and did very well. Emma loved being with her brother and sisters. We had a great time and hope we can do it again next year! Aloha!

Emma loves to give pedicures! I guess if her career in show business doesn't work out she can always get into the nail business! :)

She Can Sing Too!

Not only is she a dancer, she likes to sing too! She uses my Guitar Hero guitar as a microphone while she belts out a tune like an Asian Carrie Underwood! If you listen carefully you'll hear her stop and give a shout out to her audience, which is made up of one of our Labs, "Bih-Bit", and make mention of the fact that she has to poo poo!

Crazy Oklahoma Weather....

Only in Oklahoma, in a span of 13 days, can you get single digit temperatures, a major ice storm, 80 degree highs, and thunderstorms and tornados! Yesterday for the first time in my twenty year teaching career, we had to take tornado precautions at school. There were several waves of tornadic activity that we were right in the middle of. One hit only two miles south of the school and damaged businesses along one of our main roads, NW Expressway. Another one destroyed or damaged some large home in Edmond (NE of us). The most serious one hit southern Oklahoma and there were 8 deaths. In Oklahoma we deal with the threat of severe weather often, but usually it's April - July, not in February. We are all okay. A friend of our's in-laws lost their home in Edmond. We did have a ton of hail at our house (as you can see from the photos) and Emma kept repeating "snow, snow". Let's hope this storm is an isolated outbreak and not a pre-curser for what type of spring/summer we're going to have!

This Is What Happens...

when you allow a not quite two year old to eat yogurt unsupervised! Apparently she thought it was some sort of edible hair gel or shampoo! We gave her some yogurt as a snack while we were canning dill pickles today. We were no more than 5 feet away from her, but got so wrapped up in our task that when I looked back to check on her she was wearing more yogurt than she had eaten! Oh well, she needed a bath anyway!

Winter Days, Sunglasses, and Potty Chair...

Snow and ice in OKC.

Chillin with my Asian baby.

I can do it myself now Mom.

What are you looking at mom & dad?

I love my Uggs too Sophie!

Just take the picture dad.

A cold winters day on Kimberlyn Rd.

Yaay, no school today!

Can I be a like the teenage boys and sag my pants too?
Sounds like a strange combination huh? Well we have been snowed, or better yet "iced" in for three days, and all of a sudden our little darling has taken an interest in two things, sunglasses and the potty chair (and sometimes both at the same time). School has been canceled the past three days due to icy roads. Yes you people from up North laugh, but Oklahoman's have no clue how to handle winter weather. If we get more than a few flakes, the whole state shuts down! However Emma has kept us quite entertained the past few days. She has developed quite a personality. Yesterday Emma and I ventured out so mom could get some school work done. She has become quite taken with Wal-Mart and repeats "Wuh Mar" whenever she thinks we might be heading that way. So anyway yesterday Emma and I spent some father-daughter time at both "Wuh Mar" and Quail Springs Mall. She loves the play area at the mall and has become quite brave when it comes to climbing on the giant butterfly, toadstool, and boat. Today we took her to Ms. Rhonda's Daycare and she seemed excited to be back at "school"!
